Tracy Sturdivant
President & CEO
Tracy Sturdivant is a culture shaper, movement builder, and champion for change at the intersection of gender justice, democracy, and creative strategy.
As co-founder and CEO of The League, Tracy helps movements, philanthropy, brands, creators, and communities connect the dots between culture, current trends, and social impact—translating big ideas into action that moves people. Tracy believes that changing the culture is the work of changing the world.
Tracy brings more than two decades of experience pushing the envelope on ideas that ensure social change keeps pace with the world around us. In 2014, she co-founded Make It Work, a three-year national campaign that moved affordable child care and paid family leave into America's political conversation ahead of the 2016 election. Weaving together culture and advocacy—from a short film by Issa Rae to activations at the Iowa State Fair—Make It Work reached nearly 30 million people and earned a Pollie Award for Best Field Campaign and recognition from Campaigns & Elections as Most Creative Campaign.
As Executive Director of State Voices, Tracy raised more than $15M annually, growing the network from 6 to 22 state tables and pioneering a data-driven model for grassroots organizers. Early in her career, she managed the Michigan philanthropic giving of Jon Stryker, focused on gender justice, LGBTQIA+ equality, and democratic participation. She has advised the Open Society Foundations, the Democracy Alliance, the Culture Change Fund at the Women's Foundation of California, and the Pivotal Ventures Women of Color Design Council.
A sought-after speaker, Tracy has taken the stage at SXSW, Cannes Lions, Netroots Nation, and the Atlantic's "Inclusion in Action" Summit, and appeared alongside Secretary Hillary Clinton and Megan Rapinoe. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Fast Company, Vogue, Essence, and Ms. Magazine. The League is a frequent Anthem Award winner, with multiple recognitions in 2023, 2024, and 2025—including a Silver for Best Influencer Collaboration in Human & Civil Rights.
Tracy serves as Founding Board Chair of Higher Heights for America and has served on the boards of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, New American Leaders, Greenpeace, and the Proteus Fund.
When she's not shaping the culture of change, Tracy is testing new recipes, discovering live music festivals, and sharing adventures with her son.
